Under general direction, the Manager will assist in developing strategic goals to ensure adherence to the organization's mission, vision, values, and business strategies. The Manager supports overall program development and service priorities emphasizing service excellence, patient and family centered care, patient safety, and patient satisfaction. This position will support leadership within the department with activities that promote program growth, fiscal responsibility and staff satisfaction.Responsibilities:Planning and Goal Setting:1.Develops and implements departmental goals as outlined by leadership. Monitors performance toward goal completion and develops strategies to optimize outcomes. 2.Supports director and administrator in all aspects of departmental operations and planning.3.Collaborates with director, administrator and medical directors to formulate departmental goals.4. Manages and directs all aspects of Respiratory Care and Pulmonary Laboratory operations and planning5.Incorporates current trends in Respiratory Care and pulmonary function testing markets, technologies and economic climate into strategic decisions. Identifies targets for individual and departmental performance.6. Incorporates concepts of continuous performance improvement into strategic planning.7.Solicits customer (physician, staff, patient, family, other department) input for departments program planning. Acts as liaison to physicians, administration, patients/families, and other disciplines for the department.Clinical Management/Expertise:1.Maintains relevant clinical and technological knowledge and integrates that knowledge into work related practices. 2.Coordinates clinical benchmarking and research studies for the improvement of quality outcomes as directed by director, administrator and medical director3.Collaborates with Medical Directors, clinic staff, outside providers, professional organization and vendors to address clinical care and operational needs. Collaborates with other relevant clinical disciplines to assess and address the multi-system issues associated with Respiratory Care. 4.Supervises development and maintenance of clinical databases to promote research and quality care delivery.5.Oversees preventative maintenance, repairs and obsolescence programs for all departmental equipment.6.Oversees the evaluation and recommendation of purchases of new equipment.Daily Operations:1.Serves as a timely resource for staff in complex problem solving involving patient and family issues. Maintains accessibility, response, and follow-through on off shifts and weekends.2.Oversees employee schedules to ensure 24/7 coverage to effectively cover priority needs. 3.Oversee job development design, work processes and work flows. Implements appropriate changes to improve effectiveness, productivity, efficiency that supports the overall goals for the department and organization.4.Ensures departmental readiness including equipment, supplies, staff, and supervision. Develops effective controls that promote adherence to applicable State/Federal laws, and the program requirements of accreditation agencies. Ensures department practices are compliant with DOH and TJC accreditation standards.3.Reviews incident reports, complaints and other unanticipated events and initiates action plans as appropriate.4.Maintains an atmosphere of continuous readiness in all departmentsFinancial Management:1. Supervises budget preparation process including volume projections, predicted expenditures, anticipated program growth and capital equipment purchases.2.Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws and guidelines that impact related business units. Incorporates changes in regulatory requirements and other agencies into policies, procedures, and practice guidelines as necessary.3. Develops and implements cost saving measures related to equipment usage, supplies, manpower and clinical applications.4. Reviews charge master annually to ensure regulatory alignment with coding.5.Oversees department personnel to ensure appropriate charge development and billing practices. Ensures appropriate coding on billing documents; reviews and adjusts rejected charges in a timely manner. 6.Manages labor resources to meet financial targets. Develops standard for and monitors employee productivity.7.Anticipates and works with director and administrator on variances based on unanticipated changes that will affect budget.Leadership and Professionalism:1. Actively participates in professional organizations.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:1.Education/Experience:Must have Bachelor Degree in related field and six years of relevant experience to include three years of supervisory experience. Master's Degree in related field is preferred.2.Certification/Registration/Licensure:Must be licensed in the State of Washington. Must maintain current BCLS certification.Skills or Special Abilities:Must possess good team building and management skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with good interpersonal skills in dealing with all levels of staff, management, physicians and the public.
