The Department of Nursing at Kingsborough Community College invites applications for a tenure track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank to serve as the Program Director of the Polysomnographic Technology Program for the 2019-2020 academic year. The Program Director is a Polysomnographic Technologist who demonstrates an understanding of education and contemporary clinical practice appropriate for leadership in Polysomnographic Technology education.
• Performs educational and administrative duties. • The candidate will teach undergraduate courses in Polysomnographic Technology Program and scholarly activity is required. Duties related to directorship include handling all facets of the admissions process: maintaining program compliance within the standards of the accrediting organization; recruitment of new students and student advisement. • The candidate is expected to serve on departmental, college and university committees. Candidates will need to demonstrate a commitment to on-going cooperative and collaborative work with colleagues within and outside of the department for the good of the institution. • Performs teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise. Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.
QUALIFICATIONS • Ph.D. degree in area (s) of experience or equivalent. • Candidate must possess at least 5 years of combined clinical experience as a practicing technologist, chief technician and/or technical director in a clinical sleep laboratory. • Current certification as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT). Knowledge of and commitment to an Associate Degree in Polysomnographic Technology. • Knowledge of professional, legislative, accreditation and regulatory issues regarding the education of the polysomnographic technologist. • Also required is the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and the ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
COMPENSATION Assistant Professor: $47,340 - $90.149. Associate Professor: $61,349 - $106,700. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
