Under the general supervision of the management team, the incumbent, a Clinical Research Coordinator, will have a position within the Center for Sleep and Cardiovascular Outcomes Research. The Clinical Research Coordinator will work with internationally recognized researchers participating in National Institutes of Health (NIH) trials and industry-sponsored projects.
This individual will assist Principal Investigators (PI's) with study design, implementation of study protocols, subject recruitment, and subject flow while maintaining research documents/case report forms and source documents. The CRC may work independently with study sponsors, investigational drug services, and the Internal Review Board (IRB). Some involvement in clinic work will be required including the performance of phlebotomy with minor laboratory skills, electrocardiograms, overnight polysomnography, and other sleep testing.
Strong communication skills are essential. A valid license in nursing, sleep technician, or respiratory therapy is required. Flexible hours may be necessary given the uncertainty of subject flow and grant cycles.
Experience with sleep disorders is strongly preferred. Prior experience as a Clinical Research Coordinator in a university environment; or experience working in a research or clinical environment with a working knowledge of procedures and evaluations relevant to pulmonary medicine; or experience in a respiratory care environment with a working knowledge of physiology, clinical procedures and practices.
Equivalent relevant work experience may be substituted for degree requirement. The clinical research coordinator must have excellent language skills such that it is not necessary to check grammar and spelling. The research coordinator must have word processing skills (Microsoft WORD) and spreadsheet creation and management experience.
Experience with Microsoft ACCESS database is preferred. Registered Nurse, Sleep Technician, Respiratory Therapist or applicable clinical license/certification
