Under minimal supervision, conducts sleep assessments using PSG/EEG in research subjects. Responsible for the management and monitoring of the study participants during all sleep periods, initiates Rapid Eye Movement/Slow Wave Sleep disruption and responsible for sleep scoring, data recording and assessments of sleep diaries for sleep purposes. Provides study participant instruction and education. Sets up equipment prior to overnight sleep studies. Monitors multiple physiological data throughout overnight sleep studies. Troubleshoots polysomnographic recording equipment. Scores, enter data from reports into databases, and archives all overnight sleep study data. Recognizes the need for medical intervention if safety is at risk. Participates in monthly team meetings and meets with Principal Investigator in weekly meetings, as well as individually as needed. Maintains all Polysomnography (PSG/EEG) equipment. Assembles sleep data and prepares charts, graphs and tables of study data and prepares data for statistical analysis. May perform additional duties as required.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least 3 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education or experience. California licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner (RPSGT or RCP) or registered Polysomnographic Technologist preferred.
