CHKD’s Center for Pediatric Sleep Medicine was created specifically with kids in mind. Every staff member has pediatric training and experience with conditions and issues unique to children. Our state-of-the-art facilities are designed to be reassuring and comforting, with cozy sleep rooms created especially for our young patients.
Sleep Technologists report to the designated Manager/Director. Under qualified medical guidance, sleep technologist performs comprehensive polysomnographic diagnostic and therapeutic services for testing, evaluation, treatment, care, and education of sleep disorders.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintains accountability and responsibility for the performance and quality of all modalities of Polysomnographic procedures in accordance with the American Academy of Sleep Medicine
Provides all modalities of polysomnographic procedures for all age groups
Assist with overseeing the training of Polysomnographic technicians, students, and trainees
Interpersonal skills are necessary to effectively communicate with patients/families, staff, and physicians
Must be able to function independently
Ability to travel locally
License and/or Certifications:
Current Virginia Polysomnographic Technologist Licensed (Required)
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
1-2 years of sleep study experience preferred
Professional knowledge of Polysomnographic procedures, principles, equipment operations, and maintenance as normally acquired through the completion of an approved training program.
