The Cincinnati, OH Veterans Affairs Medical Center is recruiting a SLEEP CENTER DIRECTOR to provide oversight and direction of all sleep lab staff and clinical operations. The Director will strategize and implement future clinical initiatives including utilization of Tele-Medicine and home sleep studies for patient care.
Clinical duties will include interpreting sleep studies and providing direct patient care as a primary and/or supervising provider in Sleep Medicine Clinics. The Cincinnati VA has a 6 bed state-of-the-art hospital-based sleep center that supports diagnostic and therapeutic polysomnograms, maintenance of wakefulness testing, multiple sleep latency testing, and other sleep related studies. The program interacts with and is robustly supported by other subspecialties including ENT, Dentistry, Psychology, Neurology and Pulmonary Medicine. There is also a dedicated support staff including nurse practitioners, nurse case management, sleep technicians and respiratory therapists. The position includes participation as a faculty member in an ACGME-accredited sleep medicine fellowship under the auspices of the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. You will participate in the training of fellows from Sleep and Pulmonary Medicine, residents from Internal Medicine, Psychiatry and Neurology, as well as medical students from the affiliated College of Medicine.
Other duties relating to programmatic oversight include ongoing review of program metrics, maximize resources and personnel to optimize care delivery, complete bi-annual performance reviews, provide committee service as chair or member, represent the program to facility leadership, and provide other administrative activities as needed. Opportunities for clinical sleep research are also available, especially for sleep disorders associated with post-traumatic stress disorder. The Cincinnati VA has a newly-built multipurpose research building, and is an active partner in the Center for Clinical and Translational Science and Training program with University of Cincinnati and Children's Hospital of Cincinnati. Candidates should have completed an accredited sleep medicine fellowship, be board certified/eligible in Sleep Medicine, and be qualified to obtain an academic appointment at the University of Cincinnati.
