Nemours Children's Hospital - Delaware (previously Nemours/A.I. duPont Hospital for Children) invites applicants for a full-time psychologist position for the Pulmonary service, with a focus on sleep medicine. This position sits within the Division of Psychology in the Department of Pediatrics.

The psychologist will work collaboratively with the Sleep Team. At Nemours, the team consists of board-certified pediatric pulmonology and sleep physicians, advanced practice nurses, and respiratory therapists. The psychologist also will consult with sleep technicians, ENT, and neurology specialists and will provide services for several types of sleep disorders, including but not limited to insomnia, narcolepsy, sleep apnea, circadian rhythm disorder, and desensitization to CPAP.

There is considerable opportunity for program development and growth within the psychology role. This may include preparing children for sleep testing, toddler behavioral insomnia, and working with neurodiverse patients in a specialty clinic. In addition, psychologist can expand their services outside of sleep medicine to include working with patients with asthma and other specialty populations seen by the Division of Pulmonology. The psychologist would work alongside one of our pediatric psychologists who is well-established within the Cystic Fibrosis team in Pulmonology.

The psychologist will provide supervision and training to residents (pre-doctoral interns) and fellows within several milieu, including Sleep Clinic, outpatient therapy, and on inpatient service. Teaching, training, and mentoring are core values in our division and these efforts are supported and encouraged. The psychologist will join our active and expanding Inpatient Consultation/Liaison Service. Attending psychologists rotate weekly along with psychology trainees, and the psychologist will be part of that rotation. The Inpatient C/L Service completes consults and provides ongoing care for inpatients in medical beds, with consults from multiple services (e.g., endocrinology, gastroenterology, surgery, pulmonology). The psychologist will provide psychosocial assessment, recommendations, and problem-focused interventions for children on the inpatient medical units.

The psychologist will participate in quality improvement initiatives, program development, and other efforts to ensure the sustainability of their service. In addition, there will be opportunities for research. This role involves teaching and presentation of relevant topics to colleagues, trainees, medical staff, and patients. The psychologist will provide staff support and education around family-centered care and psychosocial issues. The psychologist will consult with medical providers and maintain close collaboration with members of multidisciplinary medical teams. There are opportunities for collaboration with leadership on goals to promote diversity, equity, and inclusivity in the workplace, through a lens of health equality. Minimum Qualifications

Education

1. Doctoral degree in clinical, counseling, or school psychology from an APA-accredited doctoral program.

2. Internship training from an APA-accredited program in clinical child or pediatric psychology.

3. Post-doctoral fellowship training in clinical child or pediatric psychology.

Experience

• Applicants with all levels of post-licensure experience will be considered, with a preference for candidates with a well-rounded experience in pediatric psychology, and robust as well as recent experience with inpatient medical settings.
• Bilingual Spanish skills are strongly preferred.
• Advanced knowledge and skills in pediatric practice in medical settings, especially the critical care setting, including evidence-based therapy modalities, crisis intervention, and risk assessment.
• License-eligible in the state of Delaware.
