Position Description

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine is recruiting a full-time Pediatric Pulmonologist on the Faculty Scientist track at the level of Associate Professor (WOT) without tenure by reason of funding, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a full-time appointment.

Anticipated start date is Spring 2024.

The mission of the Division of Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine is to improve the lives of children with breathing and sleep disorders through equitable access to high-quality subspecialty clinical care, transformative and sustainable research, and the education and mentorship of the next generation of pediatric pulmonary and sleep physician leaders through a diversity, equity and inclusion lens. In partnership with the Seattle Children's Research Institute and the newly launched Center for Respiratory Biology and Therapeutics, the faculty-scientist will be expected to spend the majority of their time engaged in funded research. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.

Associate Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

The base salary range for this position will be: Associate Professors MD $15,078 - $22,617 per month ($180,936 - $271,404 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the Children's University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by Children's University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through Children's University Medical Group practice plan. Additional administrative responsibilities may be offered to a specific candidate with appropriate experience and qualifications which may result in an administrative supplement (ADS).

This position will support the Department's commitment to advance transformational science related to pediatric pulmonary and sleep disorders. Qualifications

Applicants must have an MD or DO (or foreign equivalent) and must be Board certified or Board eligible in Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine.

Applicants must have completed a US accredited pediatric pulmonary residency and a pediatric pulmonary and sleep medicine fellowship program.

Applicants must be eligible for medical licensure in state of Washington.

Applicants must provide evidence of sustained research productivity in basic/translational pediatric pulmonary and/or sleep medicine research and demonstrate the potential for continued extramural funding.

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
