The Polysomnography Technologist Supervisor gathers and examines data for sleep physiology studies, and supervises and/or trains other staff members in Polysomnography.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Supervises the day-to-day functions of the Sleep Laboratory in an effective, timely and professional manner, including preparing schedules, making job assignments, monitoring personnel and maintaining appropriate personnel and patient records in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Ensures that the department and staff members adhere to department policies and procedures.
Assists in all budgeting responsibilities within the Sleep Laboratory.
Participates in the planning, design and execution of all clinical and research daytime and nighttime polysomnography studies.
Coordinates data handling, data reduction and all forms necessary for special studies, and ensure that all relevant equipment is functioning properly prior to the start of the study.
Prepares relevant equipment and reviews patient's medical record before the patient arrives at the lab, ensuring that everything is set up appropriately for the patient.
Greets the patient and family, explains the test procedures, answers any questions and attends to any patient needs in a professional manner.
Applies monitoring equipment to the patient appropriately and professionally and performs baseline measurement before the study begins to ensure that the equipment is functioning properly and will produce high-quality results.
Starts and ends the study at the designated times, and properly records the necessary patient information at the right times during the study.
Scores the sleep recordings within the same week of completion, identifying the stages of sleep and consistently and accurately identifying those tracings that indicate a sleep disorder.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
Advanced knowledge of Polysomnographic Care modalities, therapies, equipment and medications.
Ability to make tactical conclusions around the allocation and direction of the work of supervised employees using established guidelines, policies and/or procedures.
Ability to make effective hiring and termination recommendations.
Ability to train, and evaluate performance of supervised staff.
General computer skills, including but not limited to: Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation and email.

QUALIFICATIONS
- EDUCATION - H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent
- EXPERIENCE - 3 Years of Experience
- CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION - Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS in 30 days of hire or transfer.
Reg Polysomnographic Tech (RPSGT), Registered Sleep Tech (RST): Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) from the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) OR Registered Sleep Technologist from the American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM) required.
